Paris is a big city, and it’s one of those destinations that is blessed with more than one airport. Certainly, there’s a dominant airport in Paris, but there are two others that may be your entry point to the country. And no matter which Paris airport greets you upon arrival, you’ll need to know how to get from there into the city itself – because none of the airports in Paris are terribly close to the city center.
There are three articles linked below – one for each of the major airports in and around Paris – and each article has detailed information about how to get from that airport into the city center, or from the city center to that airport. There are several transportation methods for each one, and which one is best depends a little bit on your particular travel plans. Generally speaking, however, if you can avoid driving into the center of Paris you’ll be doing yourself (and your nerves) a favor.
>> And here are some tips for finding cheap airfare to Paris, too.
- How to Get from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris (and vice versa) – Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), otherwise known as Roissy Airport, is Paris’ largest and busiest airport. It lies about 16 miles northeast of Paris, and is helpfully connected to the city via the RER trains. You can also get on a TGV train to anywhere else in the country without leaving the airport. This article tells you your options for getting back and forth between CDG and Paris.
- How to Get from Orly Airport to Paris (and vice versa) – Although CDG is the main Paris airport today, Orly Airport (ORY) used to be the city’s primary gateway. It’s still a good-sized international airport, and is favored by many budget airlines that fly to Paris. Orly is about 8 miles south of Paris, and connected to the city by RER trains. This article tells you your options for getting back and forth between Orly and Paris.
- How to Get from Beauvais Airport to Paris (and vice versa) – If it wasn’t for budget airline giant Ryanair calling Beauvais Airport (BVA) home, this airport probably wouldn’t merit much of a mention on a list of Paris airports. It’s more than 50 miles north of Paris, it’s incredibly small, and only three airlines even fly in and out. But because Ryanair is one of them, it’s worth knowing about. Your primary options for transportation are the regular coaches to Paris or the shuttles to the local train station (where you get a train to Paris). This article tells you your options for getting back and forth between Beauvais and Paris.
